    • Book club kits - upper elementary, middle school and teens - search "book discussion kits"- can expand the program to include make-and-take crafts, presentations, self-made movies or commercials or posters - partner with your local school - Teach Net

    • Big Read for Upper Elementary, Tweens, or Teens - NEA Big Read
    • Literary Contests - Kansas City Library Harry Potter Championship
    • Reading Bingo
    • [Your Library] Book Cannon - most treasured books of all time as decided by upper elementary, middle school and teens. They read and vote to build the canon. The canon represents the best children's books for [your library's] young people.
    • [Your Library] Bejeweled Books - author visit, books purchased for giveaway, reading and deciding which book to treasure of the visiting author - - each year an author's work is selected and honored. The selection committee can comprise of local children's organizations, business partners and parents, Tulsa City County Library System Books to Treasure
    • Mock National Book Award - Sequoyah, Caldecott, Newbery, Quick Picks, Printz, Morris - you purchase the books and the children read and vote. If you can, invite your winning author to visit.
    • Writing program/camp - for upper elementary, middle school and high school - invite author's to visit, purchase supplies. Oklahoma has a wealth of talented children's author's and illustrators.
