Oklahoma Department of Libraries Summer Reading Performers Wiki Over two decades the summer reading program has enlisted performers for the entertainment of thousands of children, young adults and adults. They are now in the form of a Wiki database. The intention of this information for Oklahoma librarians and teachers to find a variety of performers for children and teens.
Call for Oklahoma 2020 Fantasy, Mythology, and Fairy Tales Summer Reading Workshop Presenter
The Oklahoma Department of Library (ODL) Youth Service Consultant seeks a Summer Reading Workshop presenter(s) who provides programming ideas and practical advice to librarians on how to provide summer library programs to enhance children and teen learning and reading experiences. Summer Reading Workshops at no more than five (5) Oklahoma public library locations across the state of Oklahoma in the late fall. These workshops are founded on the Collaborative Summer Library Program (CSLP) yearly theme must be incorporated into the presentation. The presenter must utilize both the CSLP resources and original resources within her/his program. "Read for Adventure" from the OKC Zoo and Metropolitan Library System This spring brings a new venture for the Oklahoma City Zoo and Botanical Garden and Metropolitan Library System with the statewide launch of their community literacy program, “Read for Adventure.” This successful promotion and partnership is going Oklahoma wide, welcoming every public library across the state to participate at no cost. Hunger Free Oklahoma, The Oklahoma Department of Education, and the Oklahoma Department of Libraries have partnered to provide the children of Oklahoma free access to healthy meals. You can read State Superintendent of Public Instruction Joy Hofmeister's letter to Oklahoma Public Libraries and view her video here. All Oklahoma public libraries are welcome to participate.
